It was collected from the ground under a fallen branch. It was placed in a paper bag and brought back to the lab to further analyze and identify. Resupinatus alboniger

Classification: Phylum Basidiomycota Class Agaricomycetes Order Agaricales Family Tricholomataceae Isolation and culturing methods: This fruiting body was collected on April 15th at Dale’s Ridge Trail in Lewisburg, PA. It was collected from a branch that had fallen (shown in image). It was placed in a paper bag and brought back to the lab to further analyze and identify. Culture appearance and growth The fungus is a crust fungus. It is really small, its diameter is around .5 cm. It has hymenium is gilled. The fungi are fan shaped and slightly overlap each other. They seemed to have been flattened down during collection.

Possible Polypore

  Possible ID A Polypore Classification: Phylum Basidiomycota Class Agaricomycetes Order Polyorales Family   Isolation and culturing method : These were found on Dales Ridge in Central Pennsylvania. These were found about a foot off the ground on a stump.  They were growing in a cluster, on top of each other.   Culture appearance and growth: These fungi are the shape of half circles, with central stipes. Flavoparmelia caperata

  Possible ID Flavoparmelia caperata Classification: Phylum Ascomycota Class Lecanoromycetes Order Lecanorales Family Parmeliaceae   Isolation and culturing method : The sample was found on Dales Ridge trail in Central Pennsylvania. The specimen was found on a piece of bark on a dying hardwood tree. There were various types of fungi also cohabitating the dying tree. These lichens were found spanning the entire height of the tree, and were found on all sides of the tree. Phylum: Basidiomycota Class: Agaricomycetes Order: Polyporales Family: Meruliaceae Genus: Phlebia Date collected:4/9/18   Collection site: Isolated from Dale’s Ridge in Lewisburg, PA from branch of a hardwood tree.   Appearance and growth: Appears as a crust fungi, with no gills present. Thin and flaky to touch, specimen measures 0.5-0.7×1-1.3cm. Light brown in middle with white outer edges.

Trametes versicolor

Possible ID: Trametes pubescens   Phylum: Basidiomycota Class: Agaricomycetes Order: Polyporales Family: Polyporaceae Genus: Trametes Date collected:4/9/18   Collection site: Isolated from Dale’s Ridge in Lewisburg, PA from branch of a hardwood tree.   Appearance and growth: Cap is thin, light blue with rings of shades of blue, white, and brown, and is velvety/fuzzy, measuring 4-6×6-8 cm. Grows on the side of branches and on the bottom of hardwood stumps. Contains pores on underside, distinguishing it from a Sterum ostrea.
