Isolation and culturing method:

Isolated from a soil sample collected from the South Campus Quad, Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA. Sample was serially diluted in water and plated on malt extract agar + chloramphenicol. Plate was left alone for a week and then a small volume of hyphae was excised from the agar and transferred to achieve a pure culture.

 

Culture appearance and growth:

White fuzzy appearance with fast hyphal growth. Hyphae growing above agar, with cotton candy-like appearance. Hyphae 5 um wide. Hyphae lacking septa and clamp connections.

 

Spore production:

Spores growing above at the end of hyphae stalks. Circular spores measuring 7.5 um in diameter. Large sporangia present measuring 15 um in width.
