Phlebia tremellosa (crust fungi)

Phylum: Basidiomycota Class: Agaricomycetes Order: Polyporales Family: Meruliaceae Genus: Phlebia Date collected:4/9/18   Collection site: Isolated from Dale’s Ridge in Lewisburg, PA from branch of a hardwood tree.   Appearance and growth: Appears as a crust fungi, with no gills present. Thin and flaky to touch, specimen measures 0.5-0.7×1-1.3cm. Light brown in middle with white outer edges.

Trametes versicolor

Possible ID: Trametes pubescens   Phylum: Basidiomycota Class: Agaricomycetes Order: Polyporales Family: Polyporaceae Genus: Trametes Date collected:4/9/18   Collection site: Isolated from Dale’s Ridge in Lewisburg, PA from branch of a hardwood tree.   Appearance and growth: Cap is thin, light blue with rings of shades of blue, white, and brown, and is velvety/fuzzy, measuring 4-6×6-8 cm. Grows on the side of branches and on the bottom of hardwood stumps. Contains pores on underside, distinguishing it from a Sterum ostrea.

Ionomidotis irregularis

Phylum: Ascomycota Class: Pezizomycota Order: Leotiomycetes Genus: Ionomidotis Date collected: 4/9/18   Collection site: Collected on bark of hardwood tree in Dale’s Ridge park in Lewisburg, PA.   Appearance and growth: Cup measures 3-4 x 6-7 cm and is dark purple, growing in clusters on hardwood bark. No gills are present clustered cups are thin and flakey to touch. Stem not evident.

Dried specimen

Phylum: Basidiomycota   Date collected: 4/9/18   Collection site: Collected on bark of hardwood tree in Dale’s Ridge park in Lewisburg, PA.   Appearance and growth: Cap measures 1-1.3 x 1.2-1.4 cm and is white, turning yellowish as it approaches the stem. It is smooth and chalky in texture and rubs off white on finger. Gills are present and spaced close together, light brown in color and crenate. Dried specimen appears to be eccentically attached to stipe. Spores: Spores measure 2.5-4×10-12.5 um and are oblong in shape. Some spores are unpigmented, while some, possibly more mature spores, may be pigmented. […]

Grows encompassing branch and has yellowish pores.
