Isolation and culturing method :

From soil found on uphill entrance of the LC. Small amount of soil centrifuged with water, plated, and grown at room temperature. Specific culture removed from plate by taking a clump of hyphae, replated four times on M+C agar plate to obtain pure culture.

 

Culture appearance and growth:

Small, typically ½ inch circular formations, growing multiple on a plate. Individuals are septate, and possess no clamp connections. Hyphal, grows above medium not in or under. Groups are dark green and look as if they would be soft to the touch. One week after plating, there were two distinct clusters. Two weeks after plating more clusters had started to from. A four week old plate had been completely overgrown.

  

Spore production

Ovular spore 10um long. Hyphae look straight and not branched, and appear to be the same color as the spores observed on the slide. Hyphae were generally seen to be short, only 50-200 uM in length, and 5uM wide.
