Collection Location/Substrate:

This specimen was collected April 15, 2018 at Dale’s Ridge Trail in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. The specimen was growing on dead wood off the side of a trail. Conditions were cool and humid, average 11*C, intermittent light rain and wind. 

 

Macroscopic Characters:

Stipeless shelf with pileus covered in irregular white “fuzz” that was velvety to the touch. Pileus measured 45mm from it’s substrate attachment, 87mm across, 9mm thick at substrate attachment. Hymenium cream colored, pores round-angular. Pores stop 1-2mm from pileus edge, no curling, mostly smooth. Thin section showed basidiomata with microscopic basidia lining their surface. “Fuzz” on pileus appeared to be bundled hyphae.
