Possibly a False Morel

Possible ID A False Morel of Some Sort

Isolation and culturing method :

This specimen was found on a hill on the Bucknell Campus in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. This was found slightly sticking out of the mulch. The mulch had to be dug about 6 inches to remove the entire fruit body. It was surrounded by nondescript white fruit bodies with cap like cups, and thin stems.

 

Culture appearance and growth:

The fruit body feels slick. It is a dull orange-yellow color. It seems to have protruding pores. The pieces of the fruit body seem to be folding in on each other. It is about the size of  a softball. It has a nutty smell to it.

 

Spore production

No spore produced or found on the fruit body itself.
